Picture gallery: Rebuilt fallout shelter is now a server farm
Author: Thilo Bayer (Nov 18, 2008) - The Swedish internet provider Bahnhof has rebuilt a former fallout shelter into an ultra-modern data center: Including waterfall, greenhouse and German submarine engines as decoration. Daylight is only simulated and the facility would even bear up against a hydrogen bomb attack. Two Maybach diesel engines serve as emergency generators with an output of 1.5 Megawatt. The cooling is provided by a system that normally supports hundreds of server racks.
