LCD manufacturers LG and Sharp confess price agreement - huge fines

Author: Markus Tänzer (Nov 14, 2008) - LG Display, Sharp and Chunghwa Picture Tubes confessed to have made illegal price arrangements for LCD displays and were sued to pay a fine of 585 million US Dollar.

Because of illegal price agreements the US Department of Justice sentenced the manufacturers LG Display, Sharp and Chunghwa Picture Tubes to a total fine of 585 million dollar. LG alone has to pay 400 million US dollar.

The enterprises confessed to have made agreements in order to have better control over the market prices. The companies Dell, Apple and Motorola are said to be affected by these arrangements.

According to zdnet.de the Department of Justice has imposed the cartel fine due to illegal business deals that were concluded between 2001 and 2006.
