Performance check in CoD 5

Call of Duty 5 World at War: Graphics cards benchmark review [Update]

Author: Raffael Vötter (Nov 14, 2008) - Yesterday we published a detailed CoD 5 performance review with several graphics cards. In the meantime we added some more cards.

We added AMD's Radeon HD 3870 X2, Nvidia's Geforce 8800 GTX and the smaller version 8800 GTS with 640 MiByte VRAM.

Call of Duty 5 World at War: Benchmarks

The Radeon HD 3870 X2 reveals excellent scaling compared to a HD 3870: The dual GPU card is up to 75 percent faster with activated FSAA/AF, but has the same problem with the minimal frames as the HD 4870 X2 and suffers from micro stuttering, too. The Geforce 8800 GTX even beats the HD 4870 as soon as 4x FSAA and 16:1 AF are used. The GTS/640 is slightly faster than the HD 4850.

The new Catalyst 8.11 WHQL didn't deliver a better performance neither did it solve the problem with the shadow visualization. We expect a "Hotfix” driver do be delivered soon.

Thanks for the update, long live the 8800GTX.... such a strong card, honestly it should have a its own article and be remembered by all gamers for years... ok im getting a bit carried away

With the recent price rises of the GTX280 here in Aus (by as much as 30%) I'm not going to be buying it anytime soon... not because of the price but more because I know I could have had the card for $150 less just 6 weeks ago... bloody economy I even put my 8800GTX on the market to see if there was any interest... there was and I've now taken it off.

So far playing Left 4 Dead this week and it runs at 60fps maxed out no problem... think ill be holding onto this old timer for another 6+ months.
