The L-Type from Chieftec is, as the name indicates, L-shaped and able to hold motherboards with ATX or microATX form factor. The "base” holds the power supply unit, front USB and headset connectors as well as one optical drive bay. The 255 x 370 x 418 millimeters sized and six kilograms heavy case can also hold up to three 3.5 inch hard drives. Furthermore it is possible to attach any TFT LCD with VESA mountings to the L-type.

Hexus.net identified two possible disadvantages of the Chieftec L-Type. First the aeration with one 120 mm fan (800 rpm) and second the cables on the left side where all the connectors of motherboard and plug in cards are located.

The Chieftec L-Type is said to be available in January 2009 for £50, which would equal about €60 or $74 with current exchange rates.
