3DMark06 at its best

3DMark 06 with extreme FSAA and AF settings (32xS-AA + 32:1 AF)

Author: Raffael Vötter (Nov 10, 2008) - Futuremark's 3DMark 06 is still one of the most popular benchmarks, but with current high-end graphics cards the CPU becomes the limiting factor. That's over now.
With the tool Nhancer we forced the best visual quality currently possible: 32xS-AA inclusive 16:1 AF and Transparency-AA. The Hybrid mode combines 8x Multisampling with 4x Supersampling. Thus our Geforce GTX 280 internally calculates with 3,360 x 2,100 pixels (at 1,680 x 1,050), additionally applies 8x MSAA and finally calculates the picture down to the original resolution again.

But this superb edge smoothing has its price: 32xS is besides 16x Supersampling the most challenging AA mode available. With default frequencies the GTX 280 reaches only 2,315 2DMarks; overclocked to 756/1,512/1,368 MHz 2,868 points are possible.
