AMDs new product offensive on 45 nm CPUs will begin in October, introducing new processors to the server market. The company is planning to release new desktop processors on January 8th. The second quarter of 2009 will bring new Quad-Core-CPUs which focus on saving energy. The estimated TDP is 45 Watts.

Less power seems to mean less speed. The 45 Watt CPU reaches its maximum clock rate at 2,4 GHz and there is no Level 3 Cache anymore. AMD calls the new CPU cores Propus. A slightly faster version (up to 2,6 GHz) will have a power consumption around 65 Watt.
