Two of the four HD 4850 run with clock speeds of 625/993 megahertz. While one model matches the reference design with 512 MiByte GDD3, the other one has 1,024 MiByte VRAM. The "Turbo” version of the HD 4850 Ice Q 4 runs with 650/993 megahertz and the "Turbo X” with 685/1,100 MHz.
The most important feature of the cards is the DHES cooling that exhausts the heat via a radial fan. HIS overhauled the Ice Q of the Radeon HD 3800 series: Two heatpipes transport the heat from the cooling block to multiple fins which are distributed all over the cooler. The voltage converters and the video memory are cooled separately. All cooling elements - despite the plastic cover and fan - are pure copper.
