A competitor for Logitech's G15?

Microsoft Sidewinder X6 gaming keyboard introduced

Author: Lars Craemer (Aug 20, 2008) - Microsoft unveils the X6 gaming keyboard right in time for the opening of the Games Convention. The Sidewinder product is said to be released in October and end Logitech's dominance in the gaming keyboard sector.

The X6 is a purebred gaming keyboard. It offers illuminated key, on-the-fly macros and a removable number pad that can be attached either to the left or right side. A profile manager recognizes if the user is for example playing a game or works with Excel. If you want to, you can remove the extension completely.

The most important additional keys are at the top of the keyboard. With two control dials the brightness of the illuminated keys and the volume can be adjusted. For the visual effects Microsoft uses combined system: A red background color marks the keys that cannot be programmed, while a more amber tone highlights the macro keys.

Our input device specialist Lars Craemer will take a look at the X6, on display at the GC, on Thursday - so stay tuned for additional details.
