OEMs will not be allowed to rename cards

AMD confirms: No renaming of the HD 3000 series

Author: (Jul 22, 2008) - Some days ago we reported, that AMD wants to allow OEMs to rename the Radeon HD 3000 series in order to sell them as members of the HD 4000 series. Now AMD told PC Games Hardware, that this is not correct.

Even in the growing markets in China and Russia, where the renaming would, according to another report, take place, no phase-out models would be sold as part of the more modern series. Regardless of a delay the mainstream chips RV710 and RV730 will succeed the Radeon HD 3450 and HD 3650 cards. They are scheduled for September respectively October.
