Of course AMD is anxious to change this situation as fast as possible and thus the first models of the
Radeon HD 4870 X2 are said to be released in August. The Taiwanese news service Digitimes.com
reports under reference to sources inside the industry, that the first samples are to be delivered at the end of the month. Cards based on AMD's default design are said to be equipped with
2.048 MiByte GDDR5 memory.
From mid-August on the producers are said to be able to use their own PCB designs, too. The chips needed for the
Radeon HD 4870 X2 will be available separately around then. The price for AMD's future high-end card is said to be 499 US-Dollar.
